Messrs. Dalgety and 00., Ltd., report Baying a most successful sale of stud Friesian, Bed Poll, and milking Shorthorn cattle on . account of the Control Development Farm, Wnraroi, on October 9. This Important annual flxturo usually draws many buyers, from all parts of tho Dominion. This year the attendance was larger than usual, and competition exceedingly , Keen from ihe start to the finish of tho sale. All the yearlings brought forward for sale were splendid tynea of the breeds they represented, and it was evident that much attention and thought had been given to proper mating-. Competition' for the milking Shorthorn and Sod Poll bulls was exceptionally animated, and tho demand at the end cf the sale was unsatisfied. .Tho Frieai'in L'ulls wero a little slower of sale,, but good average prices were mado. Muoh interest was centred in tile ottering of the Friesian cown and hoifcrs, as it is seldom ."hat breeders have ag opportunity of securing such a ohangc of high-class blood. All the fcmaleß offered wore eagerly competed for, and were distributed to all puts of the Dominion. ■ The highest prir.i paid was 120 guineas for a yearling Red Poll bull, jiurchased on account of the Hon. • TT. Rhodes, Canterbury.. Principal sales were as under:—Friesian bulls, 67gns., 60gns., 37gns., J4gns., 31gns.; others from 19 to 25gns. Shorthorn bulls: 65gns„ 74gns„ fflgns., 42Jgns. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their sale at Huntervillo last Tuesday:—Small yardings of both sheep and cattle were ofl'ered. The demand for sheep was keeu. Quotations:—Ewe hoggets, 345. 6d.; m.s. do., 265. 7d.; cull do., 145.; forward owes, 295. 2d.; small two-tooth ewes, 235. 3d.; m.a wethers, 30a. 6d.; weancr steers, £3 os., £4 10s.; heifers, to £3 18s.; us. do., £3 45.; two-year steers, £10 10s.; dairy cows, to £13 10s.; heifers, to £9 ss. (stock department), Dannevirke, report on the sale of AUitio Aberdeen Angus cat.tic as follows:—Tho sale this year was lieluin the Dannevirko sale-, yards, the offering comprising Bomo particularly fine quality animals, which wero considered by competent judges t-o bo above the, average of similar sales' held throughout the Dominion. Tho two-year-old bulls wero exceptionally good, and very quiet, every one having been handled. Tho salo started punctually at the advertised time, buyers being present from tho Wairarapa, Manawatu, Hastings, and all parts of the district. The demand for the bulls was not equal to Mr. Armstrong's 1919 sale, but every lot was sold under tho hammer. Some lots in particular met with spirited competition, and on tho whole the prices obtained must be considered highly satisfactory. The yearling bull by Moose (imp.)— Hyacinth was secured by Mr. P. V. Smith, "Marainanga Station," at 250gns.
