'Co sail.—Joan (lu p.m./, for Oamaru. THE NEW SURREY. On her maiden trip the new Federal Steam Navigation Company's cS.rgo carrier I Surrey arrived* at Auckland from New York on Monday. The Surrey loaded at Avonmtputh, and then proceeded to New York, where iho completedloading. For Aucklmd she has 1700 tone of general cargo, and after putting this 'out proceeds to Wellington «i Saturday, for which port she has about 2700 tons, thence Melbourne and Sydney. The Surrey also loaded about 35,000 cases of oil at New York, but the Auckland portion was ehat out! The aurriy 5s a .'ingle-screw geared turbine steamer with a length b.p. of 460 ft., i, breadth extreme of 62ft. 9in., and a depth moulded to upper deck of 29ft. BJin.i She carries about 11,550 tons d.w. She has be-in built of steel, and is classed 100 Al at Lloyd's, having three , complete decks, including shelter deck with bridge and forecastle, und a cruiser etern. Most of her holds in the 'tween' aud lower decks are insulated for carrying meat. Provision is made for carrying oil fuel in the double bottom, which is fitted up complete with suction pipes and heating coils. The Shaw;.Savill Company's Tainm and Corinthio will sail for London, via Panama, an Wednesday next, and on Saturday week respectively.
