Mr. Churchill, giving evidence before the Commission, said that' Mr. Wells, tho novelist, had dealt with the subject ■in. articles. •It was impossible tq say if anyone invented the tank, but Coll onel .Swinton had visualisea the advantage of such a weapon under the conditions .of modern warfare.. Mr. Churchill gave tho largest share of credit in. perfecting tanks to Tennyson d'Eyncourt.
