A STREET, APPEAL. • A meeting ' called by the Mayoress (Mrs. J. P. Lnko . presided. .In opening th(\ meeting the Mayoress si\id that tho St, John Ambulance Association had not made an ivpiieul to the public on its ow>j behalf for six years. All their energies hud been devoted to helping other 6ocie.ties, and tho reason liiicy were now coininif beforo the public was to raise- money with which, to get their own quarters. A 'building of their own in which they could hold their lectures, keep then , equipment, have their own* classrooms and workrooms was very badly needed. The placo could be built in some twicersiblo part of the city, and slio thought thoy might let tho lower floor as ghops and keep the upper one for their own Vfe. Tho following stands were iilloßed:— Mrs. Mooiilvouse and tho Wellington N-ursinsf Division, Kelbuni; Citizens' Gift Fund Committee, Winder's Corner j Mrs. Waters. Post Office; Sirs. J. Gib: lions, Kirkcaldio and Stains stand; Mrs. Proston, Bank of New Zealand corner; Miss Marks, Lindsay's corner. Mrs. Spottiswood stated that she would ask thji help of the Australian Club for that ft was determined to a?k the help of other women's organisations. Mr. Seaton is assistiiisr in- the matter of badge*, and Mr. Finlay will make arrangements lor the erection of stalls.
