The following resolution was pnsiied by tho meeting: "The executive 'of tho vVolliiißton Centre regrets tho necessity for Moor* houso'a retirement from the office' of officer in charge, and desires to express its recognition of the very valuable serricw rendered by him during his term of office and hopes that ho will soon be restored to health and will con tunic to Ma nn active interest in tho organisation for which ho has done so much in the past." Similar resolutions had been passed by the Auckland nnd Christchurch centres. The resignation of Mr. Haebvorlh from tho executive ,wns received with regret. Mr. Young stated that a week after the last meeting of the committee an appeal had been received from for money, as tho Red Cross there had none to fo on with. An emergency meeting was called and .£l5O was forwarded. This action was approved of. . A. letter was received from Colonel AVylie (Trentham hospital) asking ~if tho committee would supply ice-chests and fiun-blinds. Tho committee was of the opinion that to supply such' wants was tho duty of the Ordnance Department, and it was decided that Mr. Young should confer with Colonel Wylie. A resume of the discussion which had been held with the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. J. B. Hine), Mr. Young, and tho Y.M.C.A. was given by Mi*. Young. Mr. Hine wished to know what were tho activities of the iwd Cress in connection with- the military hospitals and the Y.M.C.A. It was made clear t» Mr. Hi.no that both orgiiuisations had' , ' worked amicably together, tho work of the Red Cross lyinp entirely among the sick aud wounded men and that of tho Y.M.C.A. with tho well men. In regard to Trentham hospital tho former would bo satisfied if t"o Y-.M.C.A. would take over entertainments, as it was impossible for tho ladies working at Trentham fo arrange for tlio transport there and back to town of entertainment parties, although they had done it occasionally. This work, the Y'MC >\. had done nt one time, but latterly it has ceased. After, discussing the matter with the Minister and Mi. Young, the association had agreed to carry on this work as before. Further correspondence and literatnro in connection with tlio League of Beer Cress Societies of the World had been received and ■ various points in comiec-' tion with tho conference at Geneva were outlined. It had been felt that now ,tliat the war was over it would be wrong to let such organisations.as those.of tho Red Cross drop, and so eight •more objects or aims had been added to thoso for which the Red Cross normally worked. Among them were , ■.included hygiene,* sanitation, methods -forflighting tuberculosis and ■ epidemics;- the'hygiene of infancy, etc',' This was to be tho y peneo work of the Red. Gross. Tho Hon. Mr. Young stated that thb London committee's report'hud been received. It had stated that they had in hantt .K5259 at the present tioio.
