LANDLORDS WARNED
TREATMENT '01' AUSTRALIAN ' SOLDIER TEaANTS. !
A warning to laudlords who are increasing'■ the rents of houses let to-sol-diers and their dependants, was uttered by tho Federal Prune Minister in Parliament some days ago, Mr. Hughes sti.u that since his return ho bad received numerous complaints on tins subject. Ho cited two Melbourne cases-which bad been brought under bis notice in which landlords, one of whom, lw said, was wos-.thy, were threatening soldier tenants with increases of 2s. and U. weekly. He did not exactly know what powers the Commonwealth might possess in tlio matter of this kindMr. Eiggs: I'ou have been n long time trying to find out. Tho Prime Minister: This Government will not and this Parliament ought not to permit this sort of thing to continue. (Hear, hear.) 1 hope that laudlords will Uko this as a public/ notification.
