DELIVERY OF GOODS
FROM HARBOUR BOARD'S SHEDS. At yesterday afternoon's meeting of tho Council of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce the following. lotter was received from Captain A. JI. Munro, traffic manager and chief whardnger to the Wellington Ilai'buui' Board:— "For many years pi>st carriers have been in (ho habit of entering the board's sheds and asking for different firms' goods, which have been delivered to them. The present position is that there are so many strangers carting for the' different firms that tho time seems opportune to make a change in this practice, and 1 shall be glad if in future any firm sending down to the wharf for goods from the sheds will issuo to the carter a docket giving the name of tho firm and the particular class of goods required. By adopting this method it will do away with any doubt as to who the man is carting for, and will, I consider, facilitate the work of firms dealing with the board." Tho council decided to evolve a system in connection tt'ith tho above that would bo to the mutual advantngo of 'tho merchants and tho board.
