DAMAGED GOODS

"Damaged Goods" Teas screened for tho second time in the Town Hall ami Concert Chamlxir last evening beforo separate audiences of men and women, and was very favourably received. The Coilcert Chamber was not largo enough to hold the would-bo patrons, many having tn be turned away. Tho demand for seats on the part of women was such that, the management have decided that to-night tho screening for women will b? given in the big Town Hall, and the performance for . men in tho Concert Chamber. . The film version of the plot is given in such a manner"that it grips from beginning to end. aiid never approaches offensiveness. The picture seeks to establish that tho gravest of all dangers confronting us are ignorance, prudery, quackery, and liypocrisv. It deals in the main with the trairic life of George Dupont, a promising college graduate. ■ who falls a victim to tho "red plague" (so-called), and of the distressing consequences of his taint on those whom he has learned to love.. The picture also exnosen the grave dan-' ger of patronising "quacks," who guarantee sneedy and positive cures, and points to many of life's pitfalls which await the yoiinor. innocent, and unwary. The setting of the play is excellent, and the acting of the principals of the highest order. The orchestration of "Damaged Goods" is excellent.
