• A LIGHT'RAINFALL. ■ - Weather conditions during September were very changeable and precipitation was of a showery nature. The following is «■ brief review of the observations of the Acting. Dominion Meteorologist, as recorded.at the Thorndon; Observatory
'Tlie total rainfall was only 1.9(1 inches, which is .2.23 inches below the 'nvi-rage-for September.. There were 12 days on wh'ch-rain was recorded, the maximum fall—o.oßin—occurring on the 29th. The mean 'temperature in the shade,was 50.4 degrees, about, one' diyrce. lower than usual, /fhe highest—on the. 20th—was .63-3' degrees, and the lowest—on- the 9th —was',3l.2 degrees. Terrestrial radiation indicated-ten frosts, the most severe being on the Bth-9th. wlion !i degrees of frost were registered.. The total sunshine was 16!) hours -.27 minutes, being 4 hours 9 minutes above the average of previous years. The. average velocity of the wind was 253 miles per day, this being above the. mean.,by 9 miles: per day.
