—t . The fortnightly nroeting of the Society for the Prevention or Cruelly to Animals took place last evening. The president, Mr. F. Meadowcroft, was in the chair. Tho inspector reported that ho 'had investigated'the following cases since last meeting:—Two cases of sores on horses, three cases of lameness, two cases of overloading, and one of cruelty to a dug, cat, and fowls. Subscriptions received amounted to £1 IDs., including ,£1 Is. each J. Staples and Co., Friend, and Wellington Trades and Labour Council.
