MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING
An event of considerable interest to the shooting work!, took place at Buckle Street Drill Hal! on Saturday, when the remaining matches on the programme of the Wellington Miniature Rifle Association were contested, viz., 15 shots deliberate and sighter, and the rapid tire match, time limit 45 seconds, "5 shots. These were responsible for some remarkably' close and'brilliant shooting. Tho completion of these made it possible for the various aggregates to be compiled, the champion team for the meeting being Wellington East with the fine total of 1518, followed by Fealherston with 1485, and Petone National Beservo with IdS-i. The latter team made a very strong finish. The individual champion turned up in W. llanse. of Wellington East Club, who shot consistently throughout the meetin" finishing with the splendid aggregate of 312 points, Scott (P.N.8.) beiwr in dose attendance with the score of 309, unking a' irveat finish. ' The time-limit contest found a winner in H. Bond, with a score of 47—a fine effort. He was followed eloseb- by six others with 46 each. This match proved quite exciting. ,At the close of the time-limit mntc'i the president of the association. Mr. C. H. Osmond, intimated that he would donate an additional tvonhy for a consolation match, "the conditions wmj five, shots deliberate, no' marking'. Tlr's event provided some sensational close shooting -four 49's nut of a possible 50 being registered. The shooting of the ties was closelv follow"! by a large, audieiw of keen marksmen, who accorded the winner. T,. V. Wriglcy. of the Ftb"iir Board Club, an'ovation for his hue effort.
