MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board ' was hold yesterday. Mr. F. Castle presided, and-there were also present Messrs. G. ,1. Petherick. A. J'. M'Curdy, F. T„ Moore, C. 11. Chapman, l J. W. M'Ewan, J.' Glover, H. Black,. J. Hutchison, Dr. .1. Kdmiody Elliott, 'Mesdames Aitken, Snow, and M'Vicar, The- finance, Property and Policy Committee recommended and it was do. cided that the resignation of Mr. L. .11. Fox, house steward, be accepted with regret, and that an appreciation of his services extending over 2!i years bo recorded; also that on the termination of his • services ho be granted six months' salary. • • , ' The chairman said.that Mr.. Fox had been compelled-to resign owing to illlienlth, The board had" no superannuation scheme for its employees, lience the recommendation of the committee that he he granted six months' salary. Mr. Fox was an old servant of the board and bis loss was to be very much regretted. Mr'. Moore also added his testimony to the good services .rendered to the board by Mr. Fox. • . It 'was decided that applications be invited for the position of house steward (non-resident) at ,£3OO per annum, applications to close on ' October ■i. ■ sThe board resolved that t'lu> cngiueu, Mr. M. M.'Kirdy.'be responsible for the upkeep of the buildings, grounds, all machinery and - mechanical appliances, and that he have the'mann.gement of the initio'.stalF, excepting porters and ward attendants, employed ' about the Hospital'and its. institutions'; and that the engineer's salary be .£275 and residence, without lighting and fuel. The Hospital Committee recomiiiended and it was decided to accept with regret the, resignation of Sisfer E. G. Brooke, ivho had taken an appointment with the military authorities. It was reported that a venereal clinic had been established at the out-patients' department, where military'and civilian cases were attended to. The Hospital Committee reported that a report would be submitted to next meeting dealiiig with the question of granting a weekly, half-holiday to nurses. Accounts amounting to ,£12,031 ss, lOd. were passed for.payment.
