The Dargaville branch of the New Zealand Palmers' Union yesterday, passed a motion conveying the keen appreciation of members of the Rood work Mr.. Hornblow has done for the advancement of the district. Members spoke warmly ot his public spirit, and trusted his efforts would bo •worthily rewarded. AY. ,1V Rankin, for W'akalipu, as a- Progressive Liberal, is announced. ' ' A privato telegram received from Blenheim slates that Mr. E. H. Penny, exMayor'of Blenheim, and a prominent educationist, has 'definitely announced his candidature, for the Wairau seat at the general election. Tn all probability ho will stand in the Reform Parly's intoresta.
