THE REDUCTION IN OUTPUT. ' Mr. W. Pryor, the secretary of the New Zealand Coal Mine Owners' Association, has sent the foKc-wing letter to tho Prime Minister (Mr. W. F. In addition to the above figures, the reduction of output in the State mines (estimated at approximately 1000 tons) must be taken into account. The loss in production for the three weeks during which the "go-s'.ow" system has-been in operation ,is, therefore, as under:— ' . '.' . Tons. Whahgarei, September 23. , The manager.of the Portland Cement Works states that the shortage of coal caused by the miners' "go-slow" policy has necessitated the disuse of one plant, and only half the second plant is he: ng operate;!. As a result of the "go-slow" policy the output of the Taratu mines has been reduced by fully one-third. • It is understood that unless the men revert to nor'mal working the management will close one mine and work ,only one. A stopwork meeting was held by the miners, this morning, but was adjourned.
