DEATH OF A PRISONER
By TeleirraDh—PreM Association. Dunedin, September 22. An inquest was opened to-day on tho budy of Frederick Cowan, who' died in hospital on Sunday. Deceased was arrested on September 1G on a charge of drunkenness, and remanded for seven days for medical treatment. He was rentnved h> the hospital on Saturday. Dr. Kviins said the deceased had suffered from chronic alcoholism and bronchial asthma. Deceased was formerly enstaged in clerical work at Tronlhain Camp, and had been drinking heavily since his discharge. Tho iiuiue.st was adjourned till Tuesday to secure evidence from Dr. Fitzgerald,
