A MEMORIAL CRECHE,

Question time at the City Council last night brought up queries relating to tho provision of rest rooms and public conveniences in- the city. Councillor Eraser reminded tho Mayor that tho council had passod a resolution some months ago in favour of providing rest rooms, and he thought ii was time that the council moved in the matter. The council had also expressed an opinpr'ovision of rest looms and public con--\ehicnees, 'both for men and women. The engineer, ho believed, hod- been instructed to bring down:a report upon the extension of existing.'conveniences and tho provision of new ones. He considered that the report, ought to bo available, at onco. , . Councillor M'Kenzio was unxious to see a' creche- provided soon for the' relief of mothers who had to bring children into town, Tho Mayor explained to Councillor Eraser that tho reports the latter asked for had been delayed by the pressure of other business upon the councils engineers. His AVorship agreed that something must be done'to improve the public conveniences. As to Councillor M'Kenzie's suggestion. „ho proposed to test tho feeling of tho public in regard to a suggestion that a creche should be csablished to commemorate tnq coining ot peace. ■
