SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY
There wag a large and enthusiastic audience on Tuesday at the Sailors' Friend Society, when the programme waa in tho hands of Mr. A. Boyd, who was ably assisted by -Mrs. A. Biiyd, Misses Jean Nicholas, White, Peggy Jones, J. Lewis, and Messrs. Val Jone?, Thompson, A. Boyd, and C. Turner, Westmeath. Miss Jean Nicholas was at the piano. Mr. Moore took for his temperance chat "Dumped," and pledges followed. Gifts of choice flowers reached the institute from the Hutt. The pnzes in. tho competitions came from • the hostess and Thorndon, and went to the Athenic. Zealaridic, and Westmeath. Tho audience Blood in silence as a mark of respect to those lost in the wrecked Tainni. A collection was made for a widow, and tlio money .wj"l bo sent to the Mayor of Wanennui.
