VON TIRPITZ. SAYS GERMANS . WERE SUPERIOR. •
London, September 11. Admiral von Tirpitz, in' cm article in the "Sunday Times," claims that the Battle of Jutland, in which all the conditions favoured the British, clearly proved the superiority of the German. personnel and materia l !. It also justified his protests against the; former inactivity of tho fleet. Germany's ■ losses .it Jutland were one-third of, tho .British losses, which elated.and surprised.the officers aiid iinen, who mentally pictured tho results if, early in the war, the fleet had been allowed to seek a favourable opportunity to attack. The British avoided von Scheer's subsequent efforts for another battlo. Von Tirpibs deplores tho retention by the Kaiser of supremo command of the navy, which was responsible for the policy of | inactivity.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
