WELLINGTON CENTRE MEETS, 'The monthly meeting of the Wellington head centre of the Uoyal Life-Savin* Society was held lust evening.' • Mr. (.t. S. Hnl. presided. Captain Dully, a member of tho' executive of the Koyal Lite-Saving Society, and Sergeant Geary, a delegate of the Wftrser Bay Club, were welcomed back by the .chairman. ' It was decided'' to grant the sum of •010 to the Blenheim sub-centre. Mr. G. X. Bell, of the AVorser Bay Club, brought before tho notice of tho meeting the action of Mr. P. Latham in rescuing a girl, from drowning atKnraka Bay last, August. ■ It, was mentioned that at the lime of the occurrence Mr. Latham was confined .to bed recovering from an attack of influenza. The meeting decided I g living the matter before the local representative, of the Royal Humnno Society. The ninth annual report and balancesheet, to be presented to the annual meeting on October 1 shows that 160 certificates and medallions were awarded during the past year; The total awarded to dato is 18-17, For the Schools' Shield nine teams wero entered, and the Mount Cook School team proved to be the winners. The balance of income over expenditure is shown as .£23 18s. id.
