RICE FAMINE IN AUCKLAND
RELIEVED BY SHIPMENTS FROM SYDNEY. By Toiegraoh—Press Association. Auckland, September 10. For the last few weeks there has been a rice famine in Auckland. , The leading wholesale and retail dealers hare been literally without a grain in thenestablishments, nod the position 'has resulted in a good deal of hardship for those 'who formerly made rice one of their staple articles- of diet. The situation has been relieved to somo extent, for both the Niagara and Makura have brought a considerable quantity of rice from Sydney.
