A meeting will be heui'shortly to consider whether the scheme shall bo dropped. As the church at Te Ore Ore was found inadequate to accommodate tho children who were deprived of their school bidding by firo recently, a marquee lent by the Defence Department has been orated, in tho locality. An inquest was held at Mnstorton yesterday on tlio body of Patrick: Ma honey, labourer, who was found <lead in a bunk at the whnro in a hine oft' Dixon Street occupied by Sidney Woruer and AV. G. tleddie. A verdict was returned that deceased ha<l died from natural causes, probably heart failure. The evidence showed that Mahoney had come, to the wharo about 5 p.m. on Monday. He had been to Carterton and was the worse for liquor, though it was unusual for him to be in this condition. Not feeling woll, he asked Worner's permission to lie down. Shortly ■ afterwards ho fell asleep, 'but about threo o'd'.ock yesterday morning was discovered to he dead. Tho polico ami a doctor wore immediately sent for, and tho ilatt?r pronounced life to be extinct. So far as is known, deceased was a singlo man, about 50 years of age,, and had no relations, in Mastcrton. Tho monthly meeting of the Central Committee of tho "Wairarapa Hospital and Charitablo Aid Board was held on Monday; Mr. W. Fisher presided, and there wore also present: Messrs. T V Moore, J. C. Ewington, S. Bolton, A. o' Conaidine, nnd A. J. Percy. Tim matrons ot the hospital reported as follows in -reference to the returns of patients ,for August:—Masterton: Admissions, U; discharges, 38; deaths, 2; remaining in hospital August 31, 51. Grey town; Admissions, 23; discharges, 17; death, 1; in hospital 'en August 31, IS. PahiatuaAdmissions, 10; discharges, 14; in hospital on August 31, 10. One imnnto left the Buchanan Homo during the month leaving ffii, in the institution. Patients' fees received during tho month were as follow:—Masted on, .C 313 Gs. (id.; fireytown, <CGG; Pahiatun, .C7t lis. Old n"e pensions paid totalled £W 15s. It was decided to install houso telephones nt tho Mnstorton Hospital, each telephone to ho connected within an exchange situated in the main office of tho building. Accounts totalling .i32OS Is. -Id. were passed for payment.
