"A WORLD PROGRAMME"
A special Hyderabad Day is being observed at the Ii.M.C.A. to-morrow, when a big tea will be held at 5 o'clock, and an address delivered afterwards by the general secretary on the mission work ot the association, with special reference to activities conducted during the war perioci amongst the Portuguese, Indians, and other native troops. Quito a number of Y.M.C.A.'s are their own representative on the hold, and tho New Zealand associations are maintaining a big work in the State of Hyderabad, India. This Stato has a population of 131 millions and is almost as big. as New Zealand in area. Hyderabad city, where the main association building is, has a population of 600,000,' and is the seat of the H.H. the Nizam's Government. Work is also conducted at tho neighbouring city of Secuiuierabad, and amongst the British garrison there. The staff cousists of a general secretary, physical director, and a military secretary, and these men are endeavouring to interpret the_Y!M.C.A. ideas of the strong man, physically, mentally, socially and spiritually," to tho men "uml boys- of India. Their work has been recognised by the Nizam's Government, and tho physical director has charge of the gymnaslington association's contribution to this way the association is influencing a' large number of growing boys.' The Wellington asfciation's contribution to this work is .£IOO a year, and this i 4 mostly contributed by the members of the association. In order to meet this year's pledge by the end of September, a- collection is being taken at Sunday's tea. Tho meeting will be open to all men, and a hearty invitation is given to strangers to attend.
