PRICE OF WHEAT
; SHOULD BE FIXED EARLY. ; An inquiry as to the intention of the , Government regarding tho next wheal . harvest was made of tho new Minister 1 of Agriculture (Mr. Nosworthy) _by Ittr. , C. J. Talbot in the House of Roprwoutatives last night. ' Mr! Talbot asked whether it was the ■ intention of the Government to pay tho gazetted prices for last season—ss.. 6d., • bs. Ba., and ss. 10d.—for wheat next season, and whether the Minister would as soon as possible announce his intentions j regarding the 1921 crop. The Minister would know, as a Canterbury member, . that the wheat industry had bee|. languishing for some time, and 'he would know also that one of, the reasons was that the Gazette notices fixing prices had not been published in time to allow the farmers time to prepare their ground and make their, arrangements for tho new crop. He asked Air. Nosworthy to have the prices for the 1920 crop gazetted immediately, and to announce as soon as possible tho intention of tho Government regarding the 1921 crop. Mr. Nosworthy preferred not to reply to the question off hand, and ask&d that it be put on the Order Paper in th# ordinary way.
