ARTIFICIAL LIMBS
ARRANGEMENTS FOR REPAIR. An instruction was issued by Defenco Headquarters yesterday dealing with tho repair of ' artificial, lunbs supplied to limbless, soldiers. Discharged members of the N.Z.E.F. who are supplied with artilicial limbs will, in addition to receiving an initial issue of duiplicato artificial limbs at Government expense, be entitled to-have ,such limbs repaired, or replaced when necessary, free of cost. Whon a manV artificial limb needs repair to such an, extent that it necessitates him leaving Ms employment and proceeding to. a limb-repairing centre, ho must apply to tho A.D.M.S. of tho district iu winch he resides. He will then be supplied with a railway warrant and a written authority which ho will dolivcr to the officer in charge of tho>limb factory. Tho •A.D.M.S. will notify tho Commissioner of Pensions of tho date on whioh the man reports, and will also 6end a further notification when the man has< coin-, ploted his treatment and his' limb has been repaired. These notifications aro' deemed to bo important, aa they will bo required for tho information of the Pen* sioiiß Board in adjusting the man's pension for the period during which ho attends the limb factory. A certificate signed by tho employer showing the total poriod the man has been compelled to remain absent from his employment owing to tho -breakdown of Ins artificial limb should bo obtained by- tho man from his employer and forwarded by him direct to tho Commissioner of Pensions. During tho time the man is away from home attending tho limb repair factory he will be supplied with a billoting order up to ss. per diem by the officer to whom- ho reports.
