Lord Fisher, in a characteristically vigorouß letter to "The Timus" newspaper, eavs that the current .expenditure on the Nnvv is an incrediblo and ruinous waste. His expenmcß had'been that tho only way to stop waste is "ruthlessly and remorselessly to sack the whole spendthrift crew, neck and croD." "Half tho Navy is already obsolete." he declares, "and ought to be ecraDned. The other hali will bo obsolete in a few years, owing to tho prowess of internal combustion and the use of oil. fuel." Lord Fisher adds that the 20-inch enn was ready to be built when hn left the Admiralty in May, 1915-Aus.-N.Z. Cablo Assn.
