This innovation proved so popular among tho soldiers and their friends that tho functions ivere heid for.nightly, and later on weekly, it ( has now lieen decided to add a weekly' social in addition t<l the usual danue. The fir.it social will ba held on Friday night, and will be under Hio control of the following committoß of ladies:—Misses Oliver (chairwoman). Lewis, Kobinson, Mace, Cameron, Stewart. At the Maetcrron Magistrate's Court vestcrdav Philip Hyncs was charged with I>oin2 cruel to horses, in that ho had beaten and worked them while they wero in nn unfit condition.
