\ BATTLE-CRUISER LEAVES FOR THE SOUTH., To the accompaniment of the music of tho bands, the cheers, of the multitude, and the fluttering of handkerchiefs, the battle-oruiser New Zealand, at 1.30 p.m. yesterday, was warped out from the Queens Wharf by two tugs, and then, . casting off these puny, fussing little boats, steamed slowly down the harbour, bound Lyttelton. Crowds of people assem- . bled at various vantage points round the harbour to watch tho groat cruiser. W. Palmer, to the Admiral and the wardroom. Accompanying these was a splendid piece of totara weighing about a hundredweight, for mounting the greenstone, lhis will be handed over to the artificers for cutting and polishing the mounts, and what remains will be handed to tho men for carving into pipes and ether appropriate souvenirs. r ADMIRAL AT THE SAVAGE CLUB. Admiral lord jellicoe, the members of his staff, and the officers of the New Zealand were .entertained by tho Wellington Savage Club at the Concert Chamber on Saturday evening. The greatest enthusiasm' prevailed throughout the proceedings. His Excellency the GovernorGeneral, Sir Joseph Ward, and Sir James Carroll were among the guests of honour. The Prime Minister (Hon. W. F. Massey) oould not attend owing to tho illness of Mrs. Massey.
