MORTGAGES EXTENSION. Tho decision of the Government to rush the' Mortgages Extension Act through all. stages yesterday , ' was arrived. at, on' the eve of the sitting of the House. There was ft certain amount of .risk;.'in tho postponement of the Bill, and in allowing the Act to lapse. It would'have been open to any mortgageo to take action towards foreclosure. He ivould' never have been able to get far with his action, but possibly lie might h:svo been able to go far enough to causa the mortgagor in some instances to. spend money resisting him in law. Also, there, was thorisk that the Bill'might, be-de-laved further if it were.postponed for a few days. The delay in tho end might have proved to bo for 'several days.
