The House of Representatives met At 2.30 p.m. Mr. SPEAKER, made the customary announcements regarding the vacancies that had been-filled during the recess, those of Palmerstou and Wellington South, the former by the electioii'of Mr. J. A. Nash, and the latter by the election of Mr. 11. Semple. . The two new members were duly sworn in, taking tho oath of allegiance to His Majesty King George the Fifth. The Eight Hon. \V. l< , . ceriiig and so reduce the present high cost of living. , Mr. R. A. Wright (Wellington Suburbe) gave notice to ask whether the Government would assist the Wellington City Council with finauco in the endeavour to meet the present housing shortage in the city of Wellington. Mr. J. A. Hash (l'almerston) gave notice of his intention to move the Ad-dress-in-B-eply. Leave of absence for 1-1 days was given to Colonel Heaton Rhodes, absent from the Dominion on urgent public business, and for six days, to Mr. J. A. Young on account of illness. The Houss rose at 3.4S p.m.
