LORD JELLICOE TO. VISIT EOTORUA Admiral Jellicoe and twenty officers of H.M.S. New Zealand are'to Visit Hotorua on September 24, leaving again on September 30, whilst H.M.S. New Zealand is at Auckland. On Thursday a Maori entertainment will be given at Whakarewarewa, on Friday they will make the round trip, and on Saturday, Sunday/and Monday they will be at -Wairakei "and Taupo. TO-MOBEOW EVENING'S EVENTS. . The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) received information yesterday to the effect that the"men on the New Zealand would , be granted general leavo on Saturday night. He informed a reporter that he had been able to make arrangements whereby the big Town Hall would be available for their Mr. Luke stated that originally the Wellington Savage ,' Club had arranged to entertain His Escel-Governor-General, Viscount Jellicoe, and the officers from the New Zealand at the Masonic Hall, but, as it was feared that the hall would be far too small to arrange a function which would be a fittiug'adjunct to the Wellington programme, the club applied for the use of the Town Half! The Concert Chamber had. already been engaged by the' 13th Club and the Wellington College Old Boys' Football Club, but they had generously decided to forgo their claim. The result was that the big hall would be available for tho entertainment of the men from the New Zealand, and the Concert Chamber for th l e Savage Club's function. ~ OFFICERS' FOOTBALL MATCH. Owing- to the weF weather the mtach which was to have been played at Kelburn. Park yesterday afternoon, between the officers of the New Zealand, and a team from Victoria University Co I 'eye, has been postponed until, tlio ship retui"i3 to Wellington. Members of the Lyall Bay Owl Club entertained potty oflicers end n.c.o.'s of H.M.S. New Zealand on Wednesday evening at the "Tower," Apn Crescent. The visitors were welcomed by the president, Mr. A. 1). Clater. Cards and gameswere indulged in, and a most enjoyable evening was spent. Lord and Lady Jellicoe will bo ..the guests of the Hon. H. P. Wigram and Mrs. Wigram while in Christchnrch.
