CITY COUNCIL'S VISIT
Yesterday morning the Mayor (Mr. J. P Luke) and most of the members of tlio City Counoil and their wives visited the warship by special invitation, and wero shown over the 6hip by the officers. One interesting feature was the invasion of one of the gun-turrets, where the artificers first demonstrated slowly how the big guns were loaded and fired, and atterwards how the same operation was conducted when thero was an enemy witlun ran>»e. The marvel of the quick-hring demonstration was the perfect synchronisation of action between those in the gnu turret who loaded the gun and the officer situated in the fire-control station. Tho public will be allowed to inspect 11.M.5. New Zealand between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to-day. Preparations for tho ball held on board last evening was the reason for excluding the general public yesterday afternoon.
