1 A lf.rge number of members and their fronds attended tho special meeting of the Cerclo I'rancais on. Wednesday evening, wnen the prizes wore presented to the candidates wno were successful at the club's recent examinations in i'roncli. Tim meeting was presided over by Captain Barclay, and was opened with tne singing of tne "Marsetiaise." Musical items were contributed by Mr. and Alias Jtowley (piano), Miss R. van Staveren, and Sir. Spencer (French songs), Miss Johnson (violin solos), and recitations by Misses Milesi uid Heine. Captain Barclay gave an address, and presented the prizes as follow:—Senior: Gold modal,. Miss H. Heine; silver medal, .Miss 1. Jacka; certificates, Missiis U. Castle, H. K Atkinson, and Mr. N. J. Whiteman. Junior: 1, special prize presented by Mr. Manning—Miss C. Marsack; 2, special prizo presented by luadamo Dechanet M'lntosk—Miss E. M'Laren: certificates, Misses C. Wilkinson, D. Joiner, and Messrs. C. do Montalk, and "W. Young.
