Thoro was a largo attendance at Messrij.. J. H. Bethuno and Co.'s properly auction yesterday afternoon of freehold and lease- ' hold properties, in tho estate of tho Eate Martin Kennedy, for a warehouse property having a frontage of 30ft. 9in. to Herbert Street and 49it. Gin. to Edward Street by a depth between tho streets of llilft. Gin., containing an area of 18.58 perches, on which is erected a two-storey brick and concrete building, the bidding; started at .£3OOO and rose to ,£6OOO, at which price it was purchased by Messrs. Geonge Fowlds, Ltd. In tho same estate, for a property' having GGft. frontage to tTory Street and 1001't. to Buclclo Street, with dwellings Nos. 197, 199, and 201, and ■shop and dwellings No. 203 Tory Street, dwelling No. iS, Bucklo Street, the Hdding commenced at .£2OOO nnd rose to ,£'2900, at which price it was purchased by Mr. Guetano Vadala, as trustee. For the property known as "York Chambers," having frontages to Manners, St. Hill, and Parish Strec-ts, owned by the same estate, the bidding did not reach tho reserve price, and tho property is now in tlio hands of the auctioneers for private sale. In the estate of the lato T. G. Macarthy, the lease for threo years of warehouse property at the corner of Victoria Street and Chews Lane, with ono storey brick building thereon., was knocked down to the Challenge Heating Systems at an annual rental of ,£3lO per milium. Two freehold properties, Nos. 75 Brougham Street and 29 Ohiro Road, submitted on behalf of the 'Wellington City Council, wore also offered, but tho. reserves not being reached they woro passed in, and aro now in the hands of tho auctioneers for private sale.
