Four charges of having obtained credit to the extent of nearly iSO by fraud from Auckland fruit and produco merchants were preforred against James H. Johnson, alias AVilliaan R. Hill, alias John Hore, aged 82 years, in the Su-> preme Court. who was found guiltv, conducted the operations, from New* Plymouth. In sentencing accused to eighteen months' imprisonment Mr. Justico Chapman said the long and the short of it was. that accused was an accomplished swindler, and there was 110 doubt his appearance was one of Ins assets in carrying on the practices complained 1 of.
