The roniam6 of the fate LieutenantColonel Sweetzer, formerly, Camp Commandant at Trentham, killed in a motor accident at.Pahautanui on Friday last,; were interred at Karori. Deceased' was accorded military honours, thoso present .including a large number of members of the Headquarters Staff. Major E. B. Smythe, D.5.0., represented General l?obin, G.0.C., who was unable to be present, owing to pressure of official work. The B.N.Z.A.' provided the gun-carriage Mild team and the firing party. The Kev. Canon Taylor officiated at the graveside.

The death occurred at the Wanganui Hospital yesterday morning of Mr. Bentley Russell, for a considerable number of years a prominent figure in amateur dramatic and social circles in this city. Possessed of a charming personality, 'ho was prominent in most matters affecting the social life of the city; an actor of considerable promise, he was a member of the Operatic Society, one of the founders of the "Charley's Aunt" Club, a member of the Savage Club, and a man who always gavo his services ungrudgingly and cheerfully whenever and wherever they were required. Ho had been in very poor health for some years, and had latterly been living with liis mother at Morton, but a few days ago he became so seriously ill that ho wqs taken to the Wanganui Hospital, where he passed away. He was at one time associated in business at Wellington with his brother-in-law, Mr. J. B. Speed, now of Auckland.

Mr. P. A. Keenan, secretary of the Napier Orphans' Club, has been transferred to Wellington. ■ lie was given an enthusiastic farewell by liis brother orphans on Saturday night.

Lieutenant W. W. Stuart. R.N.R., Qias returned to Auckland after four years' active service. Ho left New Zealand with the Eighth Reinforcements, and upon arrival in Egypt was transferred to the Naval Reserve. After serving in command of fleet auxiliaries and mine-sweep-ers in the Mediterranean, ho was appointed port captain and pilot of Dar-es-Salaam, East Africa. The sergeants and constables stationed at Mount Cook met to make a presentation to Constable B. Tarrant, who was recently promoted to take charge of Miramax Station. Sergeant M'Lean, on making the presentation of an umbrella and tobacco pouch and ca6e of pipes, referred to the popularity of 'tho officer, who had been stationed at Mount Cook for five years. Sergeant Butler and Constable Shields- also referred to the gOod qualities of Constable Tarrant.

Mr. Frank D. Andrews (son of Mr. J. F. Andrews, 1.5.0., who has just retired from the position of Secretary to tho Cabinet and Clerk of the Executive Council), who has been acting as private secretary to Major-General Sir A. W. Robin, General Officer Commanding N.Z. Military Forces, during the last three and ahalf veare, has been temporarily attached to" the staff of the Naval Adviser for secretarial duties in connection with the visit of Lord Jellicoe to New Zealand. During the last si* years Mr. Andrtnvs has rendered secretarial service to tho Right Hon. Andrew Fisher (Prime Minister of Australia) aud Mr. Holman (Premier of New South Wales), while visiting Sew Zealand, Professor Prince (Canadian fish expert), Hon. G. W. Russet (Minister of Internal Affairs), Dr. tino (Inspector-Genoral of Hospitals and Chief Health Officer), Commander Newton (Naval Intelligence Officer), an<} Genoral Pan (head of tho French Mission).
