NATIONAL PROVIDENT FUND
A meeting of the National Provident Fufld Board was held on August 111, the Minister in Charge (the Hon. Arthur M Myers) presiding. A considerable amount of'bu.-iness relating to the enrolment of stall's of local authorities was transacted, initial applications being received from the Timaru Borough Council and Lyttel'on Harbour Board, and additional entrants from tho Wellington City Council, Christchurch Tramway Board, Napier Borough Council and Hnrboiw Board, etc. A number of pensions ami allowances to dependants were authorised in respect of the Christchurch Tramway Board and Wellington City Council. Although the. latter council lias been a contributor on account of its staffs for icss than two years the aggregate amount of pensions and allowances duo from the fund lo employees or their dependants is X77S!), this liability being mainly caused by (lie influenza epidemic. The employees' contributions in respect of this sum amounted to .£l7O. The board also authorised incapacity allowances ami widows' and children's benefits in respect of a number of contributors to the, general fund.
