A RECORD PARLIAMENTARY SESSION
SIX AND A HALF MONTHS' WORK AT WESTMINSTER, (Rec. August 18, 11.5 p.m.) London, August 17. The 6ix and a half months' session of Parliament achieved a record output of legislation. It is a noteworthy fact that the closure was seldom used, the timewasting devices of party warfare being reduced to a minimum. Moreover, a great saving of time was du® to the use of no standing committees. The tendency of the Government to monopolise the timo of tho House was a less desirable feature. Out of 126 Bills introduced in the House of Commons, 35 were due to private members, and only three were passed. Tho Government passed 23 Bills of first-class importance, and others, including tho Government of India Bill, will be considered in the autumn—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
