REPLY TO THE UNITED STATES I NOTE. (Rec. August 17, 11.5 p.m.) . Mexico City, August 14. The Government, replying to the United Statk note, takes exception to the tone of menace employed. It points out that the violence comnion in large cities and unsettled areas in both countries suggests that it is 6traage that the United States should demand protection for foreigners, more especially in Mexico than elsewhere. The Government suggests that Americans should leave unsettled districts and come to the more populous places, where they will be more readily protected.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable 'Assn.
