Defenco Headquarters slates that w.iv trophies, which are still reaching New Zealand from Prance and Egypt, are to bo divided into two groups. The first group consists of trophies identified as tho property of .regiments. These trophies are.forwarded on arrival to tho towns in which the headquarters of tin. regiments aro situated, and aro placed under tho control of the officers com. nianding the regiments concerned. These trophies are beiiift held by headquarters pending alloeatlOU. ~,,.• L, With regard to the trophies m tho first group, it is recognised that before O C. rciments can arrange with Mayors in thoir regimental areas for the disposal of trophies (G.H.Q, Instruction No '10) it will bo necessary for thwn to be in possession of a list of the trophies that belong to Iho regiment concerned H will not bo possible, however, to supply this list until all the. trophies have arrived from England and I'Vpfc; and this may not be for another month or two. Meanwhile tho Mayors of the districts u.nd O.C. regiments must iwraii"o matters amongst themselves or leave final adjudication until nil the trophies are received. It is suggested that tho latter alternative should bo adopted. ___________
