'* Only Iniaribbon was withdrawn from . the Woolslon Handicap, leaving a field 'of fiftoen. runners. Moorabbe, Post Haste, and Stray Shot were all well backed. Hands Off, Swcot Sinilo, and Rangi • 'Arena led to tho distance, where the '. favourite took charge, and ran in a very ' .comfortable winner. Ronette and Stray 1 Shot both finished \fery fast in the places. Sweet Smilo and Post Hasto finished next. All started in the Hunt Club Cui>, which proved to 'be a good thing for Graftclk/a stable companion of the 3\'a- ■ ' tional winner and a- very lino jumper, i He gained several lengths at. each fence, •and though Lawsuit had the niost pace, the fine jumping of tho top-weight eh'"nbled him to win .by two lengths. Mar. ' velito was several lengths away, and ■ the others; with the exception of Six "Cylinder, who fell, finished-at intervals. The winner is capable of considerable ■improvement, and will seo a better day. " Pretty Bobby and Tania-a-roa wero evenly backed i'or the Sumner Handicap, : and there was also good support lot Glenshjro and All Serene. Lionskin soon hit tho front, and with the top-woight and Cerberus, led on to tho course proper. Parisian Diamond 6oon compounded, and Redshire challenged tho other pair. Lion- . skin always held tho advantage, and won easily from Cerberus, with' Redshire a length away, followed by Hiero, Belshiro, : Soimino, ,and Parisian Diamond, . Tigerland. declined his engagement in tho National Hurdles, but tho remaining - ten saddled up. Signature stayed on, and pot t ■■, ■ third plnco, and then came Cvnic, Ohiahu. Master Moutoii, and' Jeannot. Rewi Poto fell at Cutts's, Art at the bottom of the course, and Multivo at tho last fence. For tho wholo of .line journey the jumping "m ported.• except where the horses mentioned camo down.' ■Tho winner- arid runner-up both gava ■splendid exhibitions, and Cynic did much .better than usual. Tho winner got a ..great reception on winning at his fourth' . attempt. The time was a- record for the distance. •'•'•, ■ "Tiie Beaufort Steeples was a very even" .' betting event, Manawapango, Gang Awa', .. .'and Waimai being evenly backed. The" race needs little description, '• for Gang Awa' went to tho front at tho start, and .1 as never, headed. Sevoral times Mami.wapango tried to lioa'd him off, but tho. ...leader outjumped him, ' and also nad' more-pace. Waimai was always in third .. Tilaco and he Manawnp'ango,' i' but had no ;clia'nce '.with' the leader." Who-' ... won easily. was fourth.' ' Morei' .. cambo lost his rider at tho first fenc=. Another well-backed one in Reforma. tion scored, in tho Spreydon Hurdles .• after leading all tho way and jumping splendidly throughout. Tip-up made-a Rood effort over the lr.st half-mile, but . • had no. chance with (he winner. Wild Pilgrim finished, third several lengths away, and then camo Sonnv and Tigot land. Seville fell_ at Cutts's. The winner has been racing for two years, but •■■ this was his first, success. Form Up had * very easy Hotory in the concluding event.
