TO-MORROW'S ATTRACTIONS. As the football season advances 60 doe» the interest in tho Senior Division increase. Thistle and Porirua are to try conclusion on the Basin Reserve tomorrow, and those followers of "Soccer" code who remember the struggles of these two doughty teams in pre-war days, can anticipate a strenuous game at their next meeting. Thistle Club is leading for tho championship, and Porinia, which are bringing iu a strong eleven, reinforced by returned soldiers, notably G. Hughes, intend to do their utmost to alter the Caledonians' position on the ladder table. Porirua are noted for their vigorous style of play, and as Thistle are determined to retain their leading position, the sportipg public should witness a scientific exhibition of the game. Mr. A. E. Wells will carry the whistle At Association Park, Y.M.C.A. will meet Brooklyn. Although the latter .team was defeated by Alansts last Saturday, still the showing displayed ranks the team as one to bo reckoned with. Y.M.C.A. are second on the championship list, and a good game should resuit Mr. L. Dawson will be the referee, '■ Both games commence at 2.45 p.m., and a small charge for admission will bo made. , . „ The following will represent Brooklyn United senior team on Saturday;—Belhainie Tumor, Drain, Leach, Green, Bing, Coward, Kcllaway, Manley, famitli, Galloway. 'Reserves: Loadsinan, twothick.

THE "REP." TEAM. ' Sir,—Will you kindly permit me space to comment or. the representative team which. has been selected to play Canterbury for the Brown Shield on August '0 s Welliftjivw "Soccer" is nch in goalkeepers this season, and any of the eight custodians would do justice to the iKsition, while in tho final selection Webster is all that could bo desired. The backs are a capital combination, and understand one another's play thoroughly. Reid, selected as centre-half and captain, was a foregone conclusion, although M'Girr as a centre-half is quite as good a player in club matches, but Reid has tne advantage of experience in "rep." games. . To my mind tho halves should be M'Arthur right half), Ecid, and M'Girr (left hall). A.uld at left half is the weak link. M Ardrur of Institute, has played consistently good football throughout the soason. H» uses judgment in covering and tack me, and 1 , above all, places the ball. MM on tho other hand seldom places a. ball, -but repeatedly heads tho bull, the result being that the opposing halves aro presented with tho ball at their feetIt may be spectacular, but heading is rarely a paying proposition- when tliei'b is no opposin? player near. In any caso it would be to Wellingtons advantage if M'Girr and Auld exchanged places. The selectors have omitted tlio fact that Bell, the' reserve back, is equally at home in the halt-back line as in the baok .division. The selection ot 'M'Goram as reserve half is wise; on a soft ground he should show to advantage, but the selection of Gosney as .reserve half is beyond my comprehension. Ho always was a useful club p ayer, but nover of "rep." standard. What about Bradbury, Whitehouse and |K I'ityraid? Tho forwards are a likely lot; tho only weakness lies at centre-forward, as Hughes has not attained his old form. Hart is tho best available. Ho is an opportunist and may do well.. iOK ter as reserve justifies his selection as ho lias come to light in "rep. matches. H Smith hangs on to the ball, to the nclect of tho players on cither side ot him while his marksmanship is invariably wide of the mark. Troth cr Mooney would have been more serviceable, while Halley is a more dangerous player Man Edwards, and giveii-a fast ground wouM be equally as good, it not better, than Knowles Smith.-I am, ete^^
