_ A meeting of the Hutt County Council was held yesterday, when thorn wcro present: Messrs. F. G. Cooper ■.'chairman), W. ,T. Howe, M. W. Welch, J. White-man, and P. Cavanagh. Tim maintenance of roads.had been receiving attention', but in spite of tho greatest efforts tho main arterial roads wovo gradually getting worse. Tho condition cf tho surface of the rends had not been so bad as it wast at the present lime. Tho continuous wet wrath or and additional juotor traffic were accountable for tho bad condition of the roads, and it was impossible undw the present method of road-making to maintain anything like an oven surface. Tho report was adopted. In response to representations raado by tho New Zealand Automobile Union the council decided to have white board* erected at the approaches to all bridges in the county.
