AN INFANT'S DEATH
DUE TO S BLOCK FROM SCALDS,
An inquest was held yesterday by the Coroner, Mr. \V. G. K\<ltleU, S.M.. regarding tho death of a sixteen-month-old girl named Dulcie Elva Grouhand, who died at tho Hospital on Sunday morning as tho result of having fajlen into ft hath of hot water at the residence of her parents, 10 St. Mary Street (off Tinakon Road), on Saturday afternoon. Naomi Grouhand, mother of the deceased. stated that slie prepared a bath of hot water, and placed it near tho fire for the purpose of giving the child a bath. Sho left the child in eliarga of hor dnuehter Annie, ajred seven years, while she went to the b.rkyurd for somd cold water. During her absence sho heard a scream, and running back into the house she found that the infant had fallen into the bath of hot water. Sho immediately pulled the nhild out of tho water and sent for a doctor. After somo difficulty Dr. Young was obtained, and n't hia arrival about 5.30 p.m. lie order* ed tl\e removal of the deceased to tho Hospital. The water put into the bath «ms not boiling, but was very hot. Tho child could not have been in the water for more than two or three seconds. Annie Grouhand, sister of the deceased, slated that the baby walked towards the water, and witness proceeded after her.
