Mr: Lloyd George, replying to Sir Donald Maclean's demand for a statement of tho Government's Irish policy, said that it was not to the credit of Britain that after a hundred years of British rule we had not reconciled Ireland u> partnership. The rule of forco could not be- tho last word. Tho Government would submit a scheme to tho Ho. .e of Commons at tho earliest moment, but not .before tho rccess. Everyone said something must be done. "I am anxiously looking for any proposals," he said, ''and I invite Sir Donald Mao Lean to submit one." 'The Times" newspaper had proposed a great schome, but unfortunately it a scheme, that every party in Ireland would condemn, "Tho Government won't shirk its responsibilities, but meanwhile order must bo maintained in Ireland."—Aus.-N.Z.
