REPORT BY BRITISH COMMITTEE. • (Rec. August S, 5.5 p.m.) London, August G. The interim report of the. Empire Flaxgrowing Committeo recommends a continuance of tho Governments efforts to develop .'flax-growing within tho Empire until lie full value is derived from tho industry. The report says:—"Maxgrowiug iii Nyassa Land, Rhodesia, and South Africa-.seems to present possibilities of success. . Tho committee has received information pointing to tho conclusion that flax can bo grown successfully in Australia on a largo 6cale jf economic conditions are such that tho crop is likely, (o offer sufficient inducement, but pending further information it deferred references in connection with Australia. Tho same applies to New Zealand/'—Renter.
