A request by the Budapest Government that each great Allied Power should send a regiment to Budapest has been refused. RUMANIAN ULTIMATUM TO HUNGARY (Rec. August 7, 10.5 p.m.) Paris, August 6. The Rumanians have 6ent an ultimatum to the Hungarian Government demanding a large proportion of tho Danube shipping supplies for an army of, 308,000, and a reduction of the Hungarian army to 15,000.—Au5.-N.Z. ACUTE CRISIS DEVELOPS RUMANIANS ACTING WITH A HIGH HAND. (Rec. August 8, 1.20 a.m.) London, August G. Tho "Daily Express" Budapest correspondent states that tho Rumanians are behaving aa if they were occupying tho town, and oro domanding middle class as well as Communist hostages. They have taken over tho transport services, occupied tho posts, telegraphs, and telephones, defied tho Big Fivo's instructions to stop the advance, and ignored the assurances to tho Italian mission that no Rumanian troops would intervene in the conduct of affairs. Tho situation is ugly, and iikely to lead to bloodshed, Thirty thousand Rumanians are in tho viciniiy of the town, while others aro witliin a day's inarch.
