Y.M.C.A.
RECEPTION TO MR. J. L. HAY. A large attendance of members and friends gathered last evening in the Y.M.C.A. rooms, "Willis Street, to welcome Mr. J. L. Hay, the recently appointed general secretary. Tho halls and dining room were tastefully decorated for the occasion with flags and evergreens. Mr. R. Brown occupied the chair, and on behalf of the local association, welcomed Mr. Hay to his duties. Short addresses were also delivered by tho Hon. J. G. W. Aitken,. Mr. C. and Mr. H. W. Kersloy. Mr. Hay responded briefly, and thanked all present for tho welconifi extended. Ho spoke of the possibilities of Y.M.C.A. work, and stated that with tho help of members he hoped to carry out an extensive programme for the young moil and boys of the city. During the evening musical items were contributed by Mis« Jennings■and Mr. W. Goudie, a 'cello solo by Mr. E. Hume, and a recitation by Mr. Irwin. Supper was afterwards provided in the dining room, where a ve,ry pleasant social hour was spent.
