The foreman, ui announcing the verdict, added: "Tho jury afo of opinion that injthese cases of assault on children the birch should bo used." Air. Justice Sun said it wouid be i> matter of flogging. The foreman: *'It is our recommendation that something should be done to stop theso assaults if possible/" Tho Judge remanded the prisoner for sentence, saying he would consider tho jury's recommendation. Alexander Valentino Walquist and John Joseph M'Clusky were acquitted on a charge of sotting lire to a hut. ■ William. Edward Gillespie was. acquitted on a charge of attempted familiarity with a girl just uud-':'sixteen years.
