MEDICAL HEADQUARTERS
. MOVING TO CENTRA!, OFFICES. 'The medical headquarters for the Wellington district is about to be moved from tho Bucldo Street Barracks to the offices formerly occupied by the Pay Branch, Brandon Street. This is an important change from the point of view of the returned soldiers who have to attend for medical examination and treatment. Tho medical officers at presentoccupy cramped quarters at the barracks, and the soldiers, including many men in poor health, have to wait in the drill hall until their turns for examination arrive. The hall is cold and comfortless, though for some time past the I.M.C.A. has maintained a small canteen where tho soldiers can get hot drinks and biscuits free of charge. Tho new quarters in Brandon Street will bo very much more comfortable. A lounge, with a.Y.M.C.A. canteen, is being provided for tho men. There will bo papers and magazines, and ■ tho rooms will be heated. An additional advantage will I>e that the soldiers will be spared the- walk to the barracks, which are eituated some distance from any tramline. The Brandon Street offices are central and handy to trams, trains, and steamers.
The movo to the new offices will be complete by August 18. The rooms Hint are to bo vacated at the barracks have long been required for the work of Group staff in connection with the Territorials and Senior Cadets.
