•V portrait of Sir Joshua Reynolds sold recently for <£15,510 at the sale of Lord liedcsdale's furniture at Batsford Park, Gloucestershire. Tho portrait, 50m. by ■lOin., wasof Mrs. Freeman, and was exhibited at, Burlington Houso in 1889. The opening bid was 5000 guineas, and the painting foil at tho prico stated to Messrs. Tooth, of London. The £15,540 obtained for tho portrait of Mrs. Freeman is the highest prico recorded for a Reynolds. I?) ISM £11,559 was paid for a portrait of Lady Betty Delme, and two years later £7875 was realised at Sir Julian Goldsmid's sale for a portrait of tho Hon. Mary Monckton.
